According to the 2015-2016 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) conducted by Statistics Canada, 80% (75.0%, 83.3%) of Simcoe Muskoka residents (15-64 years) reported having had sexual intercourse in the previous twelve months. This is similar to the comparable provincial average, where 77% (75.9%, 77.8%) of the Ontario population (15-64 years) reporting having had sexual intercourse in the past 12 months.

By Age
Having had sexual intercourse in the past twelve months is highest among adults between the ages of 25 and 44 and lowest among youth and young adults aged 15 to 24 years. In Simcoe Muskoka for the 2015-2016 survey period, 60% (48.6%, 67.1%) of youth and young adults (15-24 years) reported having had sexual intercourse in the past twelve months, compared with 93% (86.6%, 96.1%) of adults (24-44 years). This drops to 79% (71.0%, 84.7%) of older adults (45 to 64 years). A similar pattern was observed for the province as a whole.

By Sex
In 2015-2016 among Simcoe Muskoka males (15-64 years), 80% (74.0%, 85.4%) reported having had sexual intercourse in the previous twelve months, which was similar to the 79% (72.5%, 83.9%) of females (15-64 years) in Simcoe Muskoka. The comparable provincial estimates were not significantly different from what was observed among the Simcoe Muskoka population.

By Income
Having sexual intercourse in the previous twelve months increases significantly with higher levels of income. In 2015-2016 in Simcoe Muskoka, 63% (50.6%, 73.8%) of those living in the bottom income quintile reported having had sexual intercourse in the previous twelve months, which was significantly lower than the 91% (81.2%, 95.8%) of those living in the top income quintile that reported having had sexual intercourse in the previous twelve months. This pattern was consistent for the province as a whole.
