According to the 2015-2016 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) conducted by Statistics Canada, 11% (8.0%, 15.6%) of Simcoe Muskoka residents (15-64 years) reported having two or more different sexual partners in the previous twelve months. This was similar to the comparable provincial average of 12% (11.1%, 13.1%) of the Ontario population (15-64 years) that reported having two or more different sexual partners in the past twelve months.

By Age

Having two or more different sexual partners in the previous twelve months is highest among youth and young adults (15 to 24 years). In 2015-2016 in Ontario, more than one-third or 41% (34.9%, 47.8%) of Ontario youth and young adults (15 to 24 years) reported having two or more different sexual partners in the past twelve-months, compared with 16% (14.9%, 17.9%) of adults 25 to 44 years and only 4% (3.4%, 5.1%) of older adults 45 to 64 years. Comparable local number are not available, due to the relatively small number of Simcoe Muskoka youth and young adults answering this question in the 2015-2016 survey.

By Sex

Having two or more different sexual partners in the previous twelve months is higher among males when compared with females. In 2015-2016 in Ontario, 15% (13.2%, 16.2%) of Ontario males (15 to 64 years) reported having two or more different sexual partners in the past twelve-months, compared with 9% (8.5%, 10.6%) of females. These figures were not significantly different from the comparable estimates for Simcoe Muskoka males and females.

By Income

In 2015-2016 in Ontario as a whole among the population (15 to 64 years), having two or more different sexual partners in the previous twelve months is highest among those living in the lowest income quintile. Comparable local number are not available, due to relatively small sample size when dividing Simcoe Muskoka respondents into five income groups.
