According to the 2015-2016 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) conducted by Statistics Canada, 24% (19.6%, 29.0%) of Simcoe Muskoka residents (15-64 years) reported using a condom the last time they had sexual intercourse. This was significantly lower than the comparable provincial average, where 29.5% (28.3%, 30.6%) of the Ontario population (15-64 years) reporting using a condom the last time they had sexual intercourse.

By Age
In 2015-2016 in both Simcoe Muskoka and Ontario as a whole, using a condom during the last sexual intercourse decreases significantly with older age groups. More than two-thirds of youth and young adults (15-24 years) reported using a condom the last time they had sexual intercourse, compared with less than one-in-six older adults (45 to 64 years).

By Sex
In 2015-2016 in both Simcoe Muskoka and Ontario as a whole, using a condom during the last sexual intercourse is significantly higher among males when compared with females. The percentage of Simcoe Muskoka females that reported using a condom the last time they had sexual intercourse was significantly lower than the comparable Ontario average.

By Education and Income
In 2015-2016 in Ontario as a whole among adults (25 to 64 years), using a condom during the last sexual intercourse is highest among those with a university degree or higher when compared to those with less education. However among Ontario residents (15 to 64 years), using a condom during the last sexual intercourse is highest among those with lowest income. These associations were not significant when looking at the Simcoe Muskoka population on its own.
