Provincial COVID-19 Response Framework - Status of Simcoe Muskoka

  • The indicators presented below correspond to Ontario’s COVID-19 response framework which has five zones of public health measures: Green/Prevent, Yellow/Protect, Orange/Restrict, Red/Control and Grey/Lockdown.
  • The colour zone for Simcoe Muskoka is assigned by the government of Ontario and is based on a consideration of all the indicators and associated thresholds for the previous 2 weeks. It is important to note that thresholds within a region may not all be met at the same time, and indicators will often fall into differing zones/colours.
  • The indicator data and colour codes that are presented in the dashboard below are based on the assessment by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) and may differ from the provincial assessment.
  • Access the COVID-19 Monitoring Dashboard to view the local status for the majority of the indicators presented in this provincial framework. For the weekly incidence rate indicator, data and trends are included on this page.
  • Following the temporary province wide shutdown in January 2021, SMDHU returned to the provincial framework on February 16, 2021.
  • Overall, Simcoe Muskoka is currently in the provincial framework’s Grey/Lockdown zone in order to help reduce the spread of the B.1.1.7 variant of concern and COVID-19 overall.

  • The chart below shows the weekly incidence rate of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population for Simcoe Muskoka since the start of the pandemic in March of 2020. The red, orange, yellow and green shaded areas on the chart correspond to the colour thresholds set by the province.
  • Since the week of January 3 2021 when the weekly incidence rate reached 83.6 cases per 100,000 population, the rate had been steadily declining and dropped to 35 cases per 100,000 for the week of February 7, 2021; however, the incidence rate for the past two weeks has been above 40 new cases per 100,000.
