Weekly testing data is updated on Thursdays. Testing data for the most recent week are incomplete and may change in future updates.
Changes in testing eligibility were announced in late January which may impact testing rates moving forward.
Summary
- There were 7.6 new COVID-19 tests per 10,000 population in Simcoe County and 6.5 tests per 10,000 population in Muskoka District for the most recent week (May 21).
- Testing rates have been decreasing since the Fall of 2022. Testing rates in 2023 for COVID-19 are lower than the previous three years.
- The percent positivity rate for the most recent week (May 21) in Simcoe County is 7.2% and 24.4% in Muskoka District.
- The Simcoe County percent positivity has been slightly higher than the provincial rate over recent months, but has dropped to lower than provincial rate in the most recent weeks.High percent positivity in Muskoka District may be related to the very low testing rate.
- Percent positivity has been highest in adults over 65 years over the past few months.
- Testing rates were highest in adults 18 to 34 through December 2021. With the changes in eligibility for testing, adults over 65 have the highest testing rate in 2022 and into 2023.
- A low percent positivity rate indicates the outbreak is under control, given more testing is finding a smaller and smaller proportion of positives.
