Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition that results from the body's inability to sufficiently produce and/or properly use insulin. Insulin is the hormone responsible for controlling the levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Consistent high levels of blood glucose can result in long-term organ damage and death.
