Asthma is a common condition of the lower airways in the lungs. Asthma is more common among children than adults. Persons with asthma have overly sensitive airways, which can become narrowed when exposed to certain triggers. This makes it difficult for the person to get air in and out of his or her lungs. Triggers for asthma symptoms can vary from one person to another and include both allergic triggers (e.g. dust, pollen, mould, etc.) and non-allergic triggers (e.g. exercise, cold air, air pollution, etc.).
