This was not significantly different from the 83% (79.6%, 85.1%) that agreed with the same statement in the 2017 survey.
  • Also in 2019, 82% (77.4%, 83.4%) agreed with the statement “stores that sell cannabis, marijuana or hashish products should not be located within a certain distance of child care centres, schools, community or recreational centres, or other cannabis retailers”. This was similar to what was reported in the 2017 survey.
  • Approximately two-thirds (69% (65.6%, 72.6%)) of adults agreed that “there should be a limit to the number of stores that sell cannabis, marijuana or hashish products”. This was significantly lower than the 75% (71.6%, 78.3%) that agreed with the same statement in the 2017 survey.
  • Approximately two-thirds (67% (63.2%, 70.2%)) of adults also agreed that “cannabis, marijuana or hashish products should be sold through stores that are government-owned”. This was similar to what was reported in the 2017 survey.
  • When asked their level of agreement with the statement “the price of cannabis, marijuana or hashish products should be high enough to discourage use by adolescents, young adults, and non-users”, 61% (57.2%, 64.5%) agreed with the statement. This was significantly lower than the 68% (64.2%, 71.2%) that agreed with the same statement in the 2017 survey.
  • Agreement with all of the above statements was significantly higher among females when compared with males.
  • Agreement with all of the above statements, with the exception of government ownership, was significantly higher among adults 45 years and older when compared with adults between the ages of 18 and 44 years.
