The Daily Bed Census Summary includes a report of hospital bed occupancy as reported by Ontario hospitals to the Ministry of Health. This provides a snapshot of the number of acute care beds, children and adolescent mental health beds and post-acute (i.e. rehabilitation, chronic care and adult mental health) beds available, and the number patients admitted to those beds at Ontario hospitals as of 11:59pm on a given date.
Occupancy rates are calculated based on the number of patients admitted to a specific type of bed, e.g. acute care divided by the total number of beds of that type at that hospital.
The data presented from this reporting platform represents all people who are admitted to local hospitals regardless of whether their residential address is in Simcoe Muskoka or not. This does not include alternate health facilities or mental health hospitals (i.e. Waypoint Centre for Mental Health). This includes acute care beds that have been opened for use in the Pandemic Response Unit at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
